But overall, DH will give you a more memorable experience than theHunter. I know, i experienced both games. MANY hours on both games. And even though theHunter will definitely draw your attention for awhile, you'll just end up going back to DH if you're a RL hunter like me and prefer animal realism like i did.
It's sad though because i have a feeling no other game will ever be like DH, theHunter may one day grasp what the people behind DH did, but currently it isn't looking that way.
If you love the outdoors and hunting, get this game! It's cheap, and will make you get even more itchy in your pants for hunting season! Found one of these games in a consignment store, I couldn't leave it there. I lost that copy a few years back, and bought this one a few months ago.
The script writing is different than the other one I had, but that doesn't mean its worse. The graphics are great for that time in technology, the deer are pretty realistic attitude wise. I find that the maps need to be a bit more congested with trees and brush except for Illinois. CONS the range is very short. Fun game, finally realistic with actually being able to scout pre season and set up feeders, scrapes, and stands, and use them in the hunting season.
Actually get to call the deer in, instead of the game marking them on the map, or giving you a guiding arrow. Played this when I was younger. Love playing it now. Installed the updates and the level editor and it's so much fun. This game is one of the best things I have purchased.
My son begged me to download it so many times from various websites but I didn't want to take chances. So glad I stumbled upon it. All their friends love the game also. I love that you can set stands and feeders during the spring and hunt them opening day of hunting season!!

It's very relaxing. This game has some very nice looking scenery in it. The deer hunting is nice as well. The core gameplay has really not changed much at all and that is probably the biggest criticism that you could throw this games way. While what is here is fine, there is just not enough new content to make it stand out from the previous game.
There is multiplayer on offer here, but they took out Play the Deer mode which was awesome! It was by far my favorite multiplayer mode in the previous game and I have no idea why they would have taken it away from this game. Seeing who is the best hunter with your buddies is fun, but it is such a strange decision to take out a mode that was so popular.
Overall, Deer Hunter is a decent enough entry in the series. It just felt like they were running out of ideas with this one or that they just wanted to get a new game out on the shelves as quickly as they could.
